Margaret Magdalene (McGinn) Ashley

Margaret Magdalene (McGinn) Ashley, 85, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Monday September 14, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio.

She was born March 4, 1930, in Norwalk, Ohio to the late Myles and Marie (Grosswiller) McGinn.

She attended St. Mary's Parochial School, and Norwalk High School. Margaret worked at the Chef Restaurant where she met her husband Leo Ashley, whom she married on February 26, 1949. She also worked at Rexall Drug Store, and Maple City Rubber Factory, where she retired in 1989, after 40 years of service. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casinos, playing the lottery, and riding motorcycles with her husband and friends. She was blessed with two sets of twins.

Margaret is survived by her seven children, William (Sophie) Ashley of Toledo, Ohio, Edward (Shana) Ashley, of Joplin, Missouri, Aleta (Dave) Kovach, Marie Giles (Virgil), Greg Ashley, Sandra (Scott) Wilcox, all of Norwalk, Ohio, and Cynthia (Pablo) Garcia of Austin, Texas.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, by 4 great-grandchildren, by 6 step grandchildren, by her sisters, Gertrude McGinn, Cecilia Young, both of Norwalk, Ohio, and Virginia (John) Jarvis of Bellevue, Ohio, by two sisters-in-law, Agnes (Schneider) McGinn, and Rachel (McGinn) Bowdoin.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo Ashley in 2007, by her infant son, Michael Ashley, and by her infant daughter, Francis Ashley, by her sisters, Marie Francis (McGinn) Doughty, Elizabeth May McGinn, by her brothers, Leo McGinn, Myles (Bob) McGinn, and Edward McGinn.

She is also preceded in death her parents, Myles and Marie (Grosswiller) McGinn, by her granddaughter, Tonya Giles, and by her brothers in-law, Jack Young, Tom Doughty, and Don Bowdoin.

Friends may call on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857, Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary's cemetery, In Norwalk, Ohio.
