Roger J. Binette

Roger J. Binette, 83, of Sandusky, received his greatest reward on Monday, October 19, 2015 when he went to be with his savior Jesus. His departure (or promotion) from here took place at the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.

He was born April 18, 1932 in Lawrence, MA and was a U.S. Army veteran, and proudly served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a lifetime member of both, the AMVETS Post 22, Vermilion, Oh and the VFW Post 1760, Mesa, AZ. Roger always had a deep respect for the U.S. military
Roger was employed by the Sandusky Ford Motor Co. for nearly 30 years; retiring 1984. After retirement he spent 10 years giving of his life, with his wife Sally, by volunteering as house parents for troubled youth at the A.R.K. Group Home in Norwalk, Oh. After that he continued to work in various jobs, ending his working life as a cafeteria worker at an elementary school in Mesa, AZ at the age of 77 years.

Roger was a member of the Eagle's Nest Church and had been a member of the former People's Church, where he had served as a trustee. Roger loved life, loved laughing, loved cooking, and loved volunteering with Christian youth events. Most of all Roger loved his family and Jesus. He loved spending time talking and laughing with members of his family, always being faithful to support them. Roger never was concerned with obtaining any recognition or awards for himself, but was extremely proud for his family members when they received them. Roger's love for Jesus was evident to those who knew him personally. He lived the last forty-three years of his life serving Jesus in any way that God directed his path.

He is survived by the love of his life -his wife of over 50 years who he affectionately referred to as his "girlfriend", Sally J. Binette (Dennis); five children, Stephanie (Nick) Butler of Huron, Dr. Mark (Shauna) Binette of Mesa, AZ, Chris Ann Binette of Huron, Judge Roger E. (Lois) Binette of Sandusky and Donald Binette (Wellington); fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jeannette Binette of Bristol, NH and one god-daughter, Janice Binette-Linn of Methuen, MA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Virginia (Houle) Binette; six sisters, Blanche Dubois, Darilda Paquette, Rose Guay, Jeanne Demers, Rita Lescarbeau, Alfreeda Voyko; two brothers, Antonio "Tony" and Rosario Binette and one grandson, Seth J. Binette.

Friends may call Monday, October 26, 2015 from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM and also on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the Eagle's Nest Church, 2126 Pipe Street, Sandusky. Pastor Darrell Gant will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

One of Roger's last desires was to have the parking lot at his church repaved. So, Memorial contributions may be made to the "Eagle's Nest Church Parking Lot Fund".
