Robert J. (Jimmy) Icsman

Robert J. (Jimmy) Icsman, 87, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Ohio Veteran's Home.

Robert was born on November 6, 1927 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late George and Helen (Sartor) Icsman.

Robert retired from the Ohio Veteran's Home Treasury Department in 1998 after 15 years of service. He was a Veteran of the Army who proudly served his country during the Korean War, and also served with the Merchant Marines during WWII. Robert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and formerly on the Parish Council. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 83 and the Sandusky Amvets Post 29. In his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at Firelands Hospital, taking cruises, and traveling to North Carolina every summer with his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife, Mary (Kromer) Icsman, whom he married on April 16, 1955. He is also survived by his daughter, Karla Beth Samples of Lafayette, IN; sons, James (April) of Pittsburgh, PA, Steven (Tara) of Harrison Township, MI, David of Sandusky and Robert (Carol) Icsman of Akron, OH; 11 grandchildren, Karl Robert, Marilyn, Justin, Henry, Jane, Jeremiah, Alexander, Theodore, Devan, Robert and Phillip and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by a son in infancy; brothers, George and Donald Icsman; sisters, Beatrice Icsman and Jean Lange.

The Lord bless you and keep you, the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you, the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.

Friends may call on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky with Father Joe Steinbauer presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
