Alice "Jean" Bailey Smith

Alice "Jean" Bailey Smith, 93, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Monday evening, December 7, 2015 in the home of her daughter, Peggy Klahn.

She was born February 21, 1922 in Milan, Ohio to the late Clarence B. and Lydia (Heintz) Bailey. J

ean was a Lutheran belonging to that faith wherever she lived. Her early years were spend in East Cleveland. Jean graduated from Huron High School in 1939. She was blessed with five children. Jean worked at many jobs, mostly bookkeeping or accounting. Jean had enjoyed golf, bicycling, dancing, crafts, playing Pinochle, and playing her organ. She was an avid reader.

Surviving her are daughters, Peggy Klahn of Norwalk, Ohio, and Laura (Carl) Cooperider of Newark, Ohio, sons, Richard (Barb) Ritter, and daughter in law, Carol Ritter of Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and David (Dayle) Ritter of Huron, Ohio.

She is also survived by her sister, Virginia White of Norwalk, Ohio, by her grandsons, Andrew (Robin) Liedorff, Brian and Wayne Liedorff, Travis (Kim) Ritter, Zachary Cooperider, Spenser Ritter, and by her great grandchildren, Connor and Collin Liedorff, Adam and Isabell Ritter, and Renee Cooperider.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Smith in 1999, by her son Dean Ritter in 2012, by her sister and brother in law, Marian and Roy Simmons, by her brother and sister in law, Glenn and Linda Bailey, by her son in law, Don Klahn, and by an infant sister.

Friends may call on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Pastor Ann Marshall of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be in Milan Cemetery.
