James E. "Sarge" Brinson

James E. "Sarge" Brinson, 87, of Sandusky, died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the Ohio Veterans Home.

He was born in Monroe, GA on February 14, 1928 to the late Henry and Pinkie Brinson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving for 24 years during WWII, Vietnam, and Korea, being honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He retired as a grinder for the former New Departure Hyatt Division of General Motors after 24 years.

He was a member of the Sandusky V.F.W. Post 2529, was a collector of model trains, and loved playing the drums.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married on September 19, 1956, Christa (Kopka) Brinson; children, Patricia (Roger) Hartley and Michael J. Brinson, both of Sandusky, Joyce E. Brinson, of Reynoldsburg, OH, Selida L. Kabalkin, of Milton, FL, Susan M. Boege, of Lake Stevens, WA, and John F. (Elizabeth) Brinson, of Millersport, OH; grandchildren, Erica Hartley, Christine Jackson, Brandi Oglesby, Zachery Kabalkin, Shane Zeccola, and Raven Brinson; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Pascal, of Philadelphia, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Norman.

Private family visitation and military services will be held Monday in the Giffin Chapel at the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
