Raymond G. Silcox

Raymond G. Silcox, 99, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at The Laurels of New London.

He was born August 1, 1916 in Bronson Twp., Ohio, to the late Ernest A. and Amanda M. (Knoll) Silcox, and was a lifelong area resident.

Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in W.W. II, at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church. He worked at the Norwalk Post Office from 1942 until he retired in 1975. Ray was a member of the Postal Workers Union, and was a life member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans Chapter #62. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, gardening, playing cards, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

Ray is survived by his son and daughter in law, Kenneth R. and Shirley Silcox of Norwalk, Ohio, by his daughter and son in law, Deborah A. and Laurence Arnold, of Berlin Heights, Ohio, by 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis M. Silcox in 2000, and by his siblings, Vesta Cross, Ed Silcox, Cliff Silcox, Hilda Berner, Oscar Silcox, and Ruby Perry.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio, and on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave. Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Ann Marshall and Rev. Scott K. Silcox will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
