Victoria Lee (Tye) Irby

Victoria Lee (Tye) Irby, 66, of Sandusky, entered into eternal rest with her heavenly father on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in University Hospitals of Cleveland, following a strong and courageous battle with her illness.

She was born January 13, 1950 in Sandusky.

"Vickie," as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, grew up in the Sandusky School System from Mills School through Sandusky High School, where she graduated in the class of 1969. During her high school years, Vickie was employed by her mother, Christine Tye, who managed the Lawson Dairy Mart. Upon graduation, Vickie was employed by Mr. Wiggs' Department Store, Foster Grant, and finally by Columbia Gas of Ohio, Inc. as a customer representative general for 43 years.
Victoria met and married her childhood sweetheart, David Lee Irby, Sr., in July of 1972. To this union was born two wonderful sons, the joys of her life, David Lee Irby, Jr. and Scott Anthony Irby.
Vickie led a full life, filled with joy and laughter from singing in the school talent show (and winning first prize at that) to taking cooking lessons over the phone from her best friend and co-worker. There was nothing she would not attempt if it interested her. She found great pleasure in challenging herself.

Victoria leaves to cherish her memories, "her boys," as she called them, David and Scott; her loving mother, Christine Tye, of Sandusky; a sister, Miriam Tye; and a brother, Sanford Tye, both of Sandusky; five grandchildren, who were the apple of her eye, Domonique Churchwell, of Columbus, Ohio, Kya Irby, Alahn Sizemore, and Addrienne Irby, all of Sandusky, and Shaki Watts, of California; special friends, Nora Monegan, Minister Harrison Phillips and the whole gang from Sunnyside Acres, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Irby, Sr., grandson in infancy, Kory Irby; father, Earl Tye; brother, Sanford "Junie" Turner in adolescence; grandmother, Evangelist Mabel Barfield; maternal and paternal grandparents; a very dear aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Phillip Brown; and many other loving family members.

Friends may call on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
