Virginia M. (Westerhold) Ebert

Virginia M. (Westerhold) Ebert, 97, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Providence Care Centers after a short illness.

Virginia was born on November 25, 1918 in Sandusky, OH to the late Andrew and Sophia (Winterholter) Westerhold.

Virginia was a 1937 graduate from St. Mary's High School, where she was named outstanding student of her class, and organizer of all her class reunions. She was a secretary at Herb & Myers Law Offices for several years. Virginia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Mary's Altar & Rosary Society. She was a past member of the Catawba Island Club, the Rockwell Spring Trout Club, the Council of Catholic Women and a former board member for the Catholic Charities of Toledo. Virginia also volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels and assisted with the St. Mary's funeral luncheon committee. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing word puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Kent) Spelman; sons, Gary (Pamela) Ebert and Neal (Mary) Ebert; grandchildren, Kelly, Caroline, Amanda, Brian, Collin, Aaron and Jared; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Abigail, Ronan, Brennan, Emerson, Ashlyn, Brady, Kaden, Avery, Leah and Toby; brother, James Westerhold of Norwalk and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by husband, Harry Ebert in 1996; sister, Murita (Jospeh) Ott and brothers, Rolland and Charles Westerhold.

Friends may call on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
