Eloise Covan Pickens

Eloise Covan Pickens, 85, of Sandusky, peacefully transitioned from this life to her eternal resting place in heaven on Thursday March 31, 2016 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Choctaw, Alabama to the late Louis and Odessa Covan on October 23, 1930.

She later moved to Waynesboro, Mississippi where she was raised by her Aunt Annie and Uncle Taylor Carlisle.
She loved to cook and feed everyone that came by always trying to fatten them up. She always stressed the importance of family, being together, taking care of each other and loving each other.
Eloise was a faithful member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Mickles and Rev. Dr. Scottie L. Aaron where she faithfully served on the Nurses Ministry until her health started to decline.

Surviving and forever cherishing her memory are her children, two daughters; Dorothy Gentry of Sandusky, OH and Dewana Pickens-(Jimmy)McSalters of Hinesville GA, four sons; Melvin Jr.(Marie) Pickens of Elyria, OH; James Pickens of Columbus, OH, Delbert Pickens and Michael (Danielle) Pickens both of Sandusky, OH, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; Her Mothers Ministry of Providence Missionary Baptist Church; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends and her devoted- friend Mary Roberson of Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister; Hazel Ruth Everett.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Dr. Scottie L. Aaron will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
