Benjamin F. Brown

Benjamin F. Brown, 79, residing in Berlin Heights, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 6, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Benjamin was born on January 7, 1937 in Hickory, PA to the late Wilferd and Sarah (Mar Couchenour) Brown.

Benjamin retired from truck driving and had been driving the bus for Edison local schools. He was a Veteran of the Navy who proudly served his country from September 9, 1954 to November 1, 1957 on the USS Pawcatuck during the Korean War, and received the National Defense European Occupation Medal. Benjamin was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with his family.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Mary Ann (McCarthy) Brown, whom he married on November 26, 1984. He is also survived by his daughter, Sharon Brown of Pittsburgh, PA; sons, Mike (Millie) Brown of Washington, PA and Terry (Stacie) Brown of McKees Rocks, PA; step-sons, Douglas (Janice) Crooks of Milan and Scott (Terri) Crooks of Norwalk; grandchildren, Mike, Melissa, Daniel, Benjamin, Allison, Natalie, Richard, Brandon, Shane and Lauren; sisters, Elizabeth Bruce of McDonald, PA, Sarah (Norm) Hughes of East Liverpool, OH, Lois Ruth Diamond of Weirton, WV and Patty Moreau of McDonald, PA; brother, Ronald (Barb) Brown of Augsberg, Germany and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Benjamin is preceded in death by sisters, Grace Sivak, Noreen Ulrich and Nellie Bissett; brothers Wilford and George Brown.

Private family services will be held at Meadow Green Memorial Park Mausoleum with Deacon Jack Busam presiding. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
