Lewis E. Doerner, 90, residing in Milan, passed away Sunday evening, April 10, 2016 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center after a brief illness.

Lewis was born on July 14, 1925 in Florence, OH to the late Gustav and Lucinda (Smith) Doerner.

Lewis was a 1943 graduate from Milan High School. He was a Veteran of the US Navy. He was a truck driver for Norwalk Truck Line and Wikel Bulk Express, as well as sales for Rohrbacher Brothers. Lewis was a member of Milan Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Milan American Legion, Norwalk VFW and a charter member of the Milan Lions Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He liked decorating Ukrainian eggs and spending time with his family and friends.

Lewis is survived by his daughter, Lucinda Smith of Norwalk; sons, Rick Doerner of Milan and Bruce Doerner of Norwalk; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Marge (Cal) Mittower, Wilma Russ, June Weilnau, Doris Quayle and Judy (Jim) Haas; brother, Robert Doerner and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Lewis is preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Shane) Doerner; sisters, Dorothy Haag and Helen Mittower; brothers, William, Donald and Russell Doerner.

Friends may call on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Milan Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Church St., Milan with Pastor Don Loving presiding. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
