Willie "Dink" Keaton

Willie “Dink” Keaton, 83, Sandusky, took the morning train from Providence Care Center on Friday, June 10, 2011.  His destination was Heaven, where it is certain he heard his Master say, “Well done”.

 

He was born on October 29, 1927 in Sandusky, and attended Sandusky City Schools. Dink was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII.

 

He was employed by New York Central Railroad for 25 years.

 

He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, and was instrumental in the re-formation of both the Men’s Choir and the Ebenezer Brotherhood.  Willie served the Sandusky community by volunteering with the Sandusky Police Department, answering phones for the Community Oriented Police Station located on Pierce St.  He also was a member of the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky.

 

Willie leaves to cherish his life, cousin, Sandra Bates and her family of Sandusky; adoptive brother, Tyrone “Skip” Brown , Florida; nieces, Velma Price and  Kriste (Major) Ruffin, both of Sandusky, Renee (Barry) Bordenave and Denise Curtis, both of Los Angeles, CA, and Trica Keaton, Paris, France; nephews, John Keaton Jr., Lorain, OH, and Kim (Suzanne) Keaton Sr., Sandusky; a host of other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jeff  Keaton; mother, Lucy (White) Sandel; and a brother, John Keaton Sr.

 

Friends may call on Friday, June 17, 2011, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky.  Rev. Clayton E. Howard will officiate.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery with the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard holding military services.  Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, is assisting the family with arrangements.  Condolences may be shared at www.toftfh.com.
