Eugene F. Mack, 95, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Tuesday morning, July 26, 2016 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born July 17, 1921 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Raymond H. and Irene M. (Holt) Mack and was a lifelong area resident.

Gene was a 1939 graduate of St. Paul High School, and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps 5th Marine Division, served in W.W. II at Iwo Jima, occupation duty at Nagasaki, Japan, and was honor guard for President Roosevelt and Mrs. Roosevelt on separate occasions. Gene was the former owner of Mae Mack Insurance Agency, and Gene Mack Realty.

He was past president of the Norwalk Association of Insurance Agents, was co-chairman of the public drive section for Fisher-Titus Hospital, a charter member of the Norwalk Jay Cees, was a former member of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, the Norwalk Lions Club, and the Eagles Aerie #711.

Gene was a former Huron County Jury Commissioner, was a Democratic Committeeman for 27 years, and was a former member of the Huron County Democratic Club. Gene was a member and Faithful Navigator of Knights of Columbus Chapter 626, life member and past Commander of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars, life member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, charter member of Elton E. Mackin Marine Corps League, was a charter member of the National W.W. II memorial, the National Atomic War Veterans, a life member of the USMC Seagoing Marines, and the USS Ranger group.

He was Past President of the St. Paul School Board, a 27 year member of the Huron County Board of Elections, former member and director of the Norwalk Civil Service Commission. Gene was a charter member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, charter member of St. Paul Athletic Boosters, and was a member of the St. Paul Alumni Association.

He is survived by his children, Gary E. (Linda) Mack, Kevin F. MacMahon, Linda Mack, Maureen Blake, and Sharon Mack, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, by his brother in law, Donald Cummings, and by his sister in law, Shirley LaBanca.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (O'Brien) Mack, by his brothers, Charles Mack, Raymond Mack, and Tom McClain, and by his sisters, Dorothy Mack, Mildred Laible, Rose Mack, Mary Ellen Koechley, and by an infant sister, Patricia Mack, by 2 grandsons, Ryan Rollins, and Daniel Mack, and by his son in law, Richard Blake.

Friends may call on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Kenneth Morman will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
