Verona "Ronnie" G. Chaplo

Verona "Ronnie" G. Chaplo, 96 residing in Castalia, OH, and formerly of California, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 21, 2016, in Parkvue Healthcare Center.

She was born on January 3, 1920 to Marion John and Maggie Belle (Brown) Mains in Belle Center, OH, where she spent her childhood.

She graduated from Belle Center High School and attended Capital University. Ronnie met Andrew "Andy" Chaplo and they later married. Living in Los Angeles, they owned and operated Anachem Laboratory for many years.

She and Andy enjoyed sailing and made many trips to Catalina Island. After Andy passed away, she continued to operate their business until her retirement. Ronnie was a very generous person helping family and friends when in need. She was honored for her donation to City of Hope in L.A. in her husband's memory. Ronnie had an adventurous soul taking a trip around the world in 1989, an avid reader, and a fan of horse racing. She enjoyed spending time with family, listening to music and eating good food.

To be closer to family, she moved back to Ohio, residing with her sister, Elinor "Mickie" Conyer in Castalia, for the past three years.

Ronnie is survived by her sister, Elinor "Mickie" Conyer, Castalia, OH; nieces, Sharon (Scott) Swartz, Castalia, OH, Dianna (Randy) Miller, Sandusky, OH, Linda (Ed) Spayd, Kelley's Island, OH, Jackie Short, Cathy Twining and Mickie Nielson, both of Marblehead, OH; nephews, James (Keemie) Mains, Tiffin, OH, Tim (Kathy) Twining, Geneva, OH, Russell Mains, and Louis Carnello, Huntington Beach, CA; many loving cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Andrew Chaplo; sister, Kathleen (Ray) Twining; and brothers, Jack (Muriel) Mains, William (Mary) Mains, and James (Rosa) Mains.

A celebration of Ronnie's Life for family and friends will be held Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4-6 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Inurnment will be held in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
