Alberta Humphries, 84, of Sandusky, departed this life on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron.
She was born July 29, 1932 to the late Sam Brown, Sr. and Hattie Ash Brown in Columbus, Mississippi.
She was a member of and attended school at Mt. Avery Baptist Church. She moved to Ohio at an early age and became a faithful member of Porters Memorial CME Church, where she served on the Stewardess Board for many years. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by many and enjoyed being with family and friends.
She is survived by three daughters, Shellie Spann Stewart and Oralean Spann Smith both of Columbus, Mississippi; Stacy Humphries of Little Rock, Arkansas, sister, Hattie Smith and brother, Willie (Mary) Brown, both of Sandusky, Ohio; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Spann Short; and six brothers, Roosevelt Brown, William Brown, A.B. Brown, Sam Brown Jr., John Brown and Isaac Brown.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in Porter's Memorial C.M.E. Church. 1722 Third St. Sandusky. Pastor Vaughn Newsom will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
