Virginia Delores Schoewe

Virginia Delores Schoewe, age 84, was called to be with the Lord after a 5 year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, on Saturday, July 2, 2011.
 
She was born April 30, 1927, to the late August and Lenora (Nemitz) Smith. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Schools, and was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Ginny was known by many as the "Cake Lady", for her many years of providing birthday, wedding, and all occasion cakes. She enjoyed volunteer work at Zion Lutheran Church and Bogart Elementary School. She worked part time at the Erie Co. Treasurer's Office and also the Board of Elections.
 
She is survived by her children Patti (Nick) Denslow, Bob (Margaret) Schoewe, Doug (Karen) Schoewe, Tim (Judy) Schoewe, all of Castalia, Sandy (John) Like of Norwalk, and Dan (Betsy) Schoewe of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers Rich (Wanda) Smith, and Tom (Carolyn) Smith both of Sandusky; 2 sisters Joyce (Jim) Keller of Castalia, and Sally (Dave) Yeager of Toledo; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
 
Ginny was preceded in death by her 1st husband Calvin V. Schoewe; her 2nd husband Donald R. Schoewe; 2 brothers Bobby and Jimmy Smith; and great grandchild Samuel Palomo.
 
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from 10 am Thursday until time of services at 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhiter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
