Wayne also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge and was a M-14 Rifle expert. He was released and honorably discharged in 1969, 100% service connected.

Wayne went back to the bowling circuit for a while and then found his new love, bass fishing and moved to Clewiston, FL. He met and married his wife, Ida in 2009 and they spent their summers in Sandusky and winters in Clewiston. His favorite pastime was bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee with his best buddy and friend, David Pullen. Wayne enjoyed golfing anywhere and driving his Cobby Rock Krawler Jeep. He was a lifetime member of the Howard County Vietnam Vets, the AMVETs, American Legion and the VFW. Wayne was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club.
