Kenneth H. "Skip" Ruthsatz

Kenneth H. "Skip" Ruthsatz, 76, of Castalia, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in The Meadows at Osborn Park, Huron following a lengthy illness.

He was born February 14, 1940 in Sandusky and graduated with his wife in 1958 from Sandusky High School.

Skip was co-owner and co-operator, for over 40 years, of the former J & D Auto Wrecking Company, retiring in 2008. Prior to this, he had worked as a tug lineman on the Great Lakes. He also worked at Sandusky Glass Company and the former Wholf Hardware. He was a "workaholic".

Skip loved boating, fishing, and liked going to the Islands on Lake Erie. He really loved working on cars. Skip was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all who knew him.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Sandusky, the Sandusky Yacht Club, Moose Club, Automotive Services Council, Seafarer's International Union and the former IAB club.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Sylvia Poeschl whom he married on March 4, 1961; two sons, Craig J. Ruthsatz of Estero, FL and Randall A. Ruthsatz of Sandusky; two daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Hahn and Beth L. Stephenson both of Castalia; five grandchildren, Danielle, Tyler and Rachel Hahn, Christina Elmes and Joshua Stephenson; one great granddaughter, Christiona Fenton; one sister, Carol (Terry) Lassen of Norwalk; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy (Krause) Ruthsatz and one son in law, Brian Stephenson.

Friends may call Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 in Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne Street, Sandusky. The Rev. Jan Smith Wood will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Grace Episcopal Church Columbarium.
