Frank A. Baumbusch

Frank A. Baumbusch, 98, residing in the Ohio Veterans Home, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 in his residence.

He was born on October 5, 1918 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Frank J. and Mary Baumbusch.

He graduated from Central High School in Columbus and worked a few different jobs before becoming a brick mason. Frank was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps as a radio technician.
He was a lifelong Catholic and a member of multiple veteran organizations, including, but not limited to the American Legion. He was a lifetime musician and led a group called Frankie Busch and the Music Masters. When at home, Frank loved to tinker with engines and gadgets.

Frank is survived by his son, Frank W. (Shirley) Baumbusch, of Sandusky; daughter, Phyllis (George) Gough, of Maryland; wife, Cora Baumbusch; of W. Virginia; step-daughters, Diane Miller, Ruth Hawley, and Winnie Lowe; grandchildren, Mark Baumbusch, Tim (Carol) Baumbusch, Debbie (Gary) Riesterer, Cheri (Doug) Schlett, Jeff (Lynn) Baumbusch, Marielle Gough, and Erik (Stacy) Gough; great grandchildren, Brody, Gabrielle, Kenny, Kara, Jessica, Andy, Emmie, Sam, and Nathan; great great grandchildren, Ava and Mia; sister, Mildred Hall; and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Lavern Hammond Baumbusch; brothers, Joseph, John, and Herman (in infancy); and sister, Mary Grimes.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 12 until time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate. Committal services will be on Friday at 1 p.m. in the chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S. High St., Lockbourne, OH, where military honors will be presented.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Frank's name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
