Thomas Lee Smoot

Thomas Lee Smoot, 73, residing in El Paso, TX, and formerly of Sandusky, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Hospice of El Paso.

He was born on June 12, 1943 in Talladega, Alabama, to William "Pete" and Beulah (Terrell) Smoot, and graduated from Sandusky High School where he excelled in football and track.

Thomas was a spiritual man and a member of Montwood Church of God of Christ, El Paso, TX, where he was baptized January 16, 2008. He also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1971. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Randa, and spending time with family and friends. Thomas Lee, known as Thomalee to family and friends) was an avid animal lover and will be truly missed by Roscoe, his dog.

He leaves to mourn, his wife of 41 years, Randa Lee (Ramsey)Smoot, El Paso, TX, daughter, Yolanda Smoot, Sandusky and Tanya Pickens, Oakland, CA.; sisters, Ossie (Terrell) Pearson, Sandusky, Willie Frances (Smoot) Amison, Toledo, OH, one brother, Charles E Smoot, Sandusky, OH, four grandchildren, Jevan Smoot, JaNae Smoot, Jordan Smoot and JaQuae Smoot all of Sandusky; four great-grandchildren, Jevayah Smoot, Josiah Smoot, Jermany Brown and Jherico Smoot all of Sandusky, special love for Journigan, Naylor and Ramsey children of Painseville, Ohio

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, William and Frances Smoot, maternal grandmother, Osie (Terrell) Garrett, brother, Eddie Frank Smoot and daughter, Anita Lee Smoot.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 19, 2017, from 6-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home and Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Home Going Services will be held January 20, 2017 at 1 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce Street, Sandusky. His nephew, Elder Osmond LeRoy Pearson will provide the eulogy. The American Legion Post 83 Color Guard will conduct the military tribute.
