George R. Roesch

George R. Roesch, 78, residing in Bay View, passed away unexpectedly late Monday morning, January 23, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

George was born on June 30, 1938 in Sandusky, OH to the late Lee and Margaret (Rowe) Roesch.

George was a 1956 graduate from Sandusky High School, where he was a member of the A Cappella Choir. He retired from the Finast Super Market in 1993 after 37 years of service as the produce manager. George was a member of the former Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sandusky, where he sang in the church choir and most recently been a member of the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Catawba Island. He was also on the church council, taught Sunday school, and coached little league baseball in Sandusky. George enjoyed reading his Bible, playing dartball and bowling. He was an avid Cleveland sports and Ohio State fan. George lived to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed drag racing cars at the Norwalk Race way and belonged to the Pro-Motion Car Club.

George is survived by his wife, Jan (Hines) Roesch, whom he married on June 6, 1987. He is also survived by his three sons, John (Michelle) Abbott of Medina, Oh, Jonah (Jennifer) Roesch and Zachary Roesch both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Autumn, Gwendolyn, Austin and Alea; sister-in-law, Joyce (Jerry) Lovell of Indianola, IA; former wife, Karen "Ruby" Roesch and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Roesch.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 10:30 am with Pastor John Adams of New Life Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Deep and abiding faith carried him through his life. He touched many peoples' lives. He will live on in glory with Jesus Christ as well as in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
