Leroy L. "Lee" Berkey, 80, formerly of Sandusky passed away December 5, 2016 in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Leroy was born on February 12, 1936 in DuBois, Pa. to Charles E. & Harriet M. (Liddick) Berkey.
Lee attended Sandusky High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany. He was a 30-year employee of the Ford Motor Co., Sandusky, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Stephen United Church of Christ, Sandusky and the Guiding Light Community Church in N. Fort. Myers. While living in Sandusky he was an avid boater and former member of the Huron Yacht Club. Leroy enjoyed taking boat trips with the Yacht Club & with his group of boating buddies to go fishing.
He was a member of American Legion Post 83, lifetime member of the Amvets, Post 17, U.A.W. Local 1213, and a former 50-year member of the Sandusky Power Squadron.
Leroy enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, traveling, playing cards and riding his bike.
Lee and his wife, Beverly moved to North Fort Myers in 1998 after his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; three sisters, Alberta A. Jaeger of Sandusky, Janet Carter of California, and Sharon Bailey of Massena, N.Y.; special friends, Valerie & Jeff Downs of Sandusky and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, two brothers and his beloved buddy, Pebbles.
Memorial services were held on January 14, 2017 at the Guiding Light Community Church, where his cremains were scattered in their Memorial Garden.
