Lightfoot B. (Jerry) Murray

Lightfoot B. (Jerry) Murray, 76, residing in Marblehead , passed away peacefully with his son, Kevil, by his side, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Mercy St. Vincent Hospital.

Lightfoot was born on June 25, 1940 in Sandusky, OH to the late Emmett and Florence (Brady) Murray.

Lightfoot graduated from Sandusky High School and John Carroll University in 1962. He received his J.D. from Boston College School of Law in 1965. He served in Vietnam as a captain in charge of rescue operations of Que Non. He learned the language and enjoyed interacting with the Vietnamese children.

Lightfoot was a partner at Murray & Murray. After his retirement, he moved to Marblehead and enjoyed a car free life of biking, skating, cross country skiing, swimming, playing basketball, crazy 8's and was a consistent tennis tournament winner. He was an avid reader and was a generous and giving friend to all. He was proud of his herb garden.

Lightfoot is survived by his son, Kevil B. Murray; brother, Dennis (Peggy) Murray Sr; sister, Elaine (Jack) Drage; sister-in-law, Tami Murray; brother-in-law, Ed McGroarty and numerous nieces and nephews, with a special relationship with Danielle, Michelle, Michael O. and Gabriel Murray, after their father's passing in 2011.

In addition to his parents, Lightfoot is preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen McFadden and Carol Ann McGroarty and brother, Michael T. Murray .

Friends may call on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky with Father Joe Steinbauer presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests bringing a candle or light to the visitation. Those wishing to contribute to Lightfoot's memory may do so to one's favorite charity.
