Alice E. (Schaefer) Townsend, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017 at her granddaughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.
Alice was born on May 14, 1930 in Sandusky, OH to the late Vincent and Thelma (Norberg) Schaefer.
Alice was a bearing inspector at General Motors for 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed singing and listening to music, especially Elvis. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She lived her life to the fullest. She loved spending every moment caring for not only her family, but her friends too. She was the strongest woman that showed her strength all the way through her life, she will be deeply missed.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Lisa Ramey-Townsend of Sandusky; sons, Robert and William both of Sandusky, and Larry (Debbie) Townsend of Akron; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Schreck of Columbus; brother, Benard (Martha) Schaefer; special friends, Cheri and Tip; niece, Mary Lou; numerous nephews, other relatives and her dog, Evy.
In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by her son, Richard "Bones" Townsend and grandson, Paul Bandy.
A very special thanks to her caretakers whom made her life and last days so loving and comfortable, Steve, Tamecka, Taylor, Jason and Bob.
Friends may call on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Victory Temple Church, 1619 W. Strub Rd., Sandusky with Pastor Luke D. Walters presiding. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
