Ronald S. Butcher

Ronald S. Butcher 61, of Sandusky, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 29, 1955 in Sandusky, and graduated from Stebbins High School, Dayton, OH in 1974.

Ron was employed as a disc jockey for several radio stations, WLEC, Sandusky, and WLKR, Norwalk, were two of the closest ones. He also worked at Walmart and Big Lots.

He played Papa Bear at Cedar Point for 5 seasons, and Santa Claus at the Cookie House in Sandusky. Ron loved community theatre, being involved with over 70 plays, with several different theatre companies.

He and his wife Theresa formed R & T Puppets, traveling to area nursing homes and preschools to perform with their puppets.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Ciresi) Butcher; father, James Ronald Butcher; son, Jeffrey Butcher; grandson, Stephen Dobbins; sisters, Karen (Steve Colburn) Ferguson, and Jocelyn (Philip) Leber; brothers, Kenneth (Brenda) Butcher, David (Angie) Butcher, and Mike (Beth) Butcher; aunts, Glenda Meeks, and Linda (Bob) Davidson; uncles, Henry (Libby) Butcher, and Robert (Ann) Parker; cousin, Terry (Jackie) Whitfield; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty (Parker) Butcher; daughter, Annette Dobbins; former wife, Melinda Butcher; and maternal grandparents, Mae Williams and George Parker; paternal grandparents, Roy and Frances (Seller) Butcher; and a aunt, Mary "Sis" Butcher.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 5-8 P.M. in the North Pointe Baptist Church, 3702 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, and also on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in the church. Rev. Wally Gilbert will officiate.
