Chester L. “Chet” Corbin, 62, Sandusky, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, in Stein Hospice Care Center.

 

He was born on August 18, 1949 in Sandusky.

 

Chet was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War.  He received three bronze stars,  the National Defense Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal, and was a marksman’s expert.

 

He was a member of the AMVETS Post 17, Sandusky, and loved junking metals, hunting, fishing, and traveling.

 

Chet is survived by his mother, Maxine (Scott) Schwochow, Clyde; girlfriend and companion, Debra Winfield, Sandusky; daughter, Chenni Corbin, Green Springs; sons, Randy Stewart, Sandusky, Paul Corbin, Green Springs, and Brannon Corbin, Norfolk, VA; five grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Taber and Lucrecia Moore, both of Clyde; brothers, Ronnie Bango and Raymond Corbin, both of Sandusky, Jack Bango and Bob Bango, both of Clyde, and Bill Corbin, Vickery; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Corbin, in 1967; and a grandson, Michael Stewart.

 

Friends may call on Thursday, August 25, 2011, from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.  Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Tyree officiating. The American Legion Post 83 honor guard will provide the military tribute at the funeral home.
