He was on the Sandusky's ADA Board, Erie County Senior Center Board, a member of the Margaretta High School Class of 1947 and involved in activities at Providence Care. He was caring, loving, strong willed and a friend for life.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy C. Scherer, Sandusky; niece and caregiver, Linda A. Scherer, Sandusky; nephew, Gregg (Molly) Scherer, Sun Prairie, WI, and niece, Leah (Jamie) Scherer Rausch, Milan, grand nieces/nephews and cousins. Hugo is also survived by his dear friends - Anna Ollar, Richard Kaman, Robert Reiber, Johnny McCoy, and Barbara Fleming at the Care Center. A Huge Thank You to Dr. Paul Bruner and to our extended Family at the Providence Care especially the staff on Cedarview, and the Kitchen/Dining Staff for your love, support and wonderful care of Hugo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, John C. Scherer; his paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents and aunts and uncles.

At Hugo's request he has been cremated.
