Norwalk residents easily recognized him as the man who looked like Santa Claus and drove a red pickup truck with a canoe strapped on top.

Gary was the ultimate family man. Nothing was more important to him than his family and friends. His brothers and sisters always said that he was the "glue" that kept us all together. He was a giving man and was hours taking them canoeing, to museums and on nature adventures. His children, grandchildren and nieces and most happy when he was surrounded by his loved ones. He was very involved with his grandchildren and never missed an event that they were in. He spent countless nephews will testify that he set the bar that all fathers should strive for. Simply, "Bumpie" was the best "Grampy Whiskers" there was.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bonnie Kay (Berkley) Pigman. Children: Andrea (Randy) King, Steve (Stephanie) Pigman, and Tabbi (Josh) Early. Grandchildren: Ian and Analiese King, and Erin and Jack Pigman. Brothers: Oren (Reta) Pigman, Don (Debbie) Pigman, Pat (Millie) Pigman and Sister: Barbara Ward, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, by his brother, Jack (Roma) Pigman, by his sister, Shirley (Denny) Vaughan, and by his brother-in-law Eugene Ward.

There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., in St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League Street, Norwalk, Ohio, to celebrate the life of the finest man his family will ever know.

Gary's loving and giving nature continues to follow him after death through the donation of organs and tissue. Gary's wealth will continue to be measured by the love he gave and all the lives he touched.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers those who wish to make a donation in Gary's memory do so to: Back to the Wild, 4504 Bardshar Rd, Castalia, OH 44824, The Humane Society, 246 Woodlawn Ave, Norwalk, OH 44857.
