Charles W. Ralston

Charles W. Ralston, 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Parkvue Community.

Born December 9, 1927, the fourth of five sons to Walter G. and Mary C. (Rodgers), Chuck was a kind, gentle, loving man who firmly believed in treating others the way you would want to be treated.

In 1946 Chuck answered the call to serve and defend his country as part of the 31st Infantry Regiment of the Army of the United States serving for a time in Korea during the Korean Conflict, being honorably discharged in 1947.

Chuck began his accounting career with The Jeffries Manufacturing Company, Columbus, which afforded him an opportunity to attend "IBM School" in New York. He ultimately took advantage of the "GI Bill" and attained his degree through Franklin University.

The story has it that Chuck was smitten with a young lady in the secretarial pool and found many reasons to stop and chat. It wasn't long before he proposed and he, and the love of his life, Glenna Marie were married in 1955.

In addition to Glenna, those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Victoria Oldham, and son, Phillip (Sharon) Ralston and "Little Susie" Carol Larrick his sister-in-law who he raised as his own; six grandchildren, Cynthia (Ron) Ducca, Christa Oldham, Anthony Ralston, Nicole (Brad) Skinn, Lindsey (Kurt) Leber and Christopher Larrick; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Ducca, Reed Ralston and Cora Leber; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

In additional to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Walter and Richard; his son-in-law, William Oldham; and a grandson, Brian Willis.

A private family service is scheduled for January 6, 2018, at Parkvue Community officiated by Chaplain Catherine Lawrence. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the nurses, staff and doctors for treating Chuck as one of their own, especially those of Follett Court.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Parkvue Community, 3800 Boardwalk Blvd., Sandusky, OH 44870 or Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Blvd., Boys Town, NE 68010.

Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
