Karen Lee Schoewe, age 64, of Castalia, was called home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on September 2, 2011, in the care of Stein Hospice, following a brief illness with her family by her side.

Karen was born June 21, 1947, in Sandusky to Robert and Irene Krawetzke and then lived in Castalia. Karen graduated from Sandusky High School in 1965, and went to gain employment at Third National Bank and the Citizens Banking Company where she worked for many years.

She loved cooking and collecting cookbooks, doing crafts, and she loved animals from all walks of life. She fed and cared for each and every one of them, but her greatest thrill was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband Douglas; her mother Irene Krawetzke; her daughter Diadra (Michael) Brady of Sandusky; stepdaughter Millicent Schoewe of Bellevue. Also she is survived by three grandchildren David Johnson Jr., and Jackelyn and Kyle Huber; one step granddaughter Jamie Brady; two great grandchildren Hunter Johnson and Gavin Lawson; and many relatives and friends from the Kelley, Krawetzke, and Schoewe families.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Frank and Elizabeth Kelley, and Gran Krawetzke; and her father Robert Krawetzke in 2001.

Services will be private with the immediate family only at Ransom Funeral Home, Castalia, with her final resting place in Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, 44870, or the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky.

We want a special thank you to all the staff of Stein Hospice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.ransomfuneralhome.com.
