Richard N. Michael, age 79, of Port Clinton, died Sunday morning ,September 4, 2011 at the Erie County Care Facility.

He was born December 30, 1931, in Toledo, was a 1949 graduate of Lakeside High School, and was employed as a supervisor for over 39 years at U.S. Gypsum. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was a member of the American Legion of Port Clinton, the Elks in Port Clinton, and was a former member of Nugents Canal Yacht Club. He loved his grandchildren, golf, and playing cards.

He is survived by one daughter Kate (David) Hayslette of Midlothian, VA; one son Doak Michael of Pinehurst, NC; 5 grandchildren Stephanie, Abigail, Seth, Morgan, and Haley; 2 step grandchildren Peyton and Jarrod; 1 great granddaughter Kaelyn; former wife Theda Michael of Staunton, VA; one brother Jack (Sandra) Michael of Dallas, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Morley and Rhea (Nichols) Michael; and one sister Jeanne Boggs.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, in the Gazebo at Lakeside, Corner of 2nd St. and Cedar Ave. Norma and Paul Satterlee will officiate, and the Port Clinton American Legion will conduct military services. A luncheon will follow at the Port Clinton American Legion, 2364 Sand Road, Port Clinton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lymphoma Foundation of America, 1100 N. Main St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104, or to the Port Clinton American Legion, 2364 Sand Road, Port Clinton, OH 43452.
