Ronald C. Abbott

Ronald C. Abbott, 79, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Firelands Regional Medical Center due to cardiac complications following surgery.

Ron was born on November 8, 1938 in Coal Grove, Ohio to the late Charles and Letta (Robinson) Abbott.

Ron graduated from Dawson Bryant High School in 1956 and later earned a bachelor's degree from Ashland University. He was the Vice President of Engineering at the former Chrysler plant and opened his own business, Rabbott, Limited consulting. Ron served on the council and was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was the 1982 Commodore of the Sandusky Sailing Club. Ron was also a former member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, Sandusky Ski Club, Rockwell Springs Trout Club and the Sandusky Maritime Museum. In his spare time, Ron was very passionate about leisure and competitive sailing, playing guitar and singing with friends. He loved cooking, was an avid fan of Ohio State football and enjoyed reading Robert Service to friends.

Ron is survived by his loving wife, Martha (Gardner) Abbott of 44 years; son, Rick (Anna) Abbott of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Ronald Abbott, Adam Kieszkowski and Stefan Kieszkowski and sister, Clarice Marcene Longpre.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Abbott; 4 half brothers and 6 half sisters.

Friends and family may visit on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, OH 44870. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky, OH 44870. Pastor Lance Franke will preside over the services. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
