Wade Garner, 94, residing in Sandusky, entered into the presence of the Lord early Monday morning, March 5, 2018 at Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
Wade was born on June 28, 1923 in Sandusky, OH to the late Clifton C. and Sophie (Lawrence) Garner.
Wade was a 1941 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy who proudly served his country during WWII. Wade retired from the Sandusky Fire Department after 20 years of service, and also retired from the Ford Motor Company after 20 years of service. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and was an American Coaster Enthusiasts. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, going to Cedar Point and riding the roller coasters, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Wade is survived by his son, Rev. Kenneth W. Garner of Sandusky; daughter, Mary Lou (Tim) Claes of Huron; five grandchildren, Stephen Garner, Stephanie (Carlos) Castrillo, Christina (Kevin) McDonald, Daniel (Megan) Claes and Joseph (Danya) Claes; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Livia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Wade is preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Johnson) Garner in 2009; his sister, Beulah Houser and a sister in infancy.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870. Friends may also call from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. David Hixson presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
