Richard D. Papenfuss 83, Sandusky, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Sandusky on July 20, 1934 to the late John and Mary (Traxler) Papenfuss.
He was employed as a painter for the Local Union #788.
Richard loved fishing, woodworking, and sailing, and was a member of the Sons of the Amvets.
He is survived by his children, Jolene (Jeff) Braun, Shepardsville, KY, Dianna Papenfuss, Juli (Bobby) Hodgkinson, John (Char) Papenfuss Sr., and Sue McClure all of Sandusky; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Pilkenton, Sandusky; brother, William (Deb) Papenfuss, Sandusky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Joanne (Harris) Papenfuss; sister, JoAnn Davis; and brothers, August Papenfuss and James Papenfuss.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
