Margaret R. Smith, 89, of Collins, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in her home.
She was born October 7, 1928, in East Townsend, Ohio, to the late Lloyd F. and Alma G. (Currier) Smith, and was a lifelong area resident.
Margaret was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church. She started her working career at the W. T. Grant Store in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a former employee of Holman's Jewelers, Kies Grocery Store, the Wakeman Elevator, the Corner Store (C-Stop) in Collins, Ohio, Boose's Farm Market, and the Federal Credit Union in Norwalk, Ohio. Margaret was a member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and the former Moose Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening and landscaping, reading, and ballroom dancing.
Margaret is survived by her son, Larry L. (Pamela) Smith of Collins, Ohio, and by her grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Shannon (Steve) Blystone, Andrew Schee, and Dana (Mark) Ansell, by 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard W. Smith in 1997, by her daughter, Lois Jean (Smith) Schee, by her brothers, Lloyd W. Smith, and Lyle W. Smith, and by her infant sister, Vivian Smith.
Friends may call on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon, in the Collins United Methodist Church, 4290 Hartland Center Road, Collins, Ohio. Rev. Josh Arrington will officiate. Interment will be in Collins Cemetery.
