Sandra Jean (Berry) Hall

Sandra Jean (Berry) Hall, 79, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 28 in Aiken, SC.

Sandy was born on August 16, 1938, in Norwalk, Ohio and lived in Norwalk for the majority of her life.

She was the valedictorian of her St. Paul High School graduating class in 1956, and then received her Bachelors' degree in Education from Ursuline College. She continued her education by earning her Masters' Degree in Reading from Bowling Green State University while she was a full-time mother and teacher. Sandy taught reading and Language Arts at Edison High School as well as spending a period of time serving as an Educational Consultant for the Erie County School system. She retired in 1998 from the Berlin-Milan School District.

Sandy was an accomplished cook, baker, quilt-maker, and seamstress, she spent many years making costumes for the plays at Edison High School, and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Sandy was also a member of the Town and Country Players.

Throughout her life, she loved to learn new things, and continued this tradition into retirement by taking French and Spanish classes, quilting classes, watercolor painting classes, as well as traveling across the country, and beyond, with her husband Tom.

Having her family home and cooking for them was one of her favorite things in life, and she really treasured the family time they spent together.

She was a long-time member of St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Norwalk, Ohio, and served as the chair-person of the Liturgy Committee for many years, as well as being a eucharistic minister, and lector. She also handled the scheduling of lectors and eucharistic ministers for St. Mary's.

Sandy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Charles (Tom) Hall, Aiken SC as well as her beloved children, Lisa (Hall) Sommers, Toledo, Ohio, Lori (Greg) Cefus, Aiken, South Carolina, Leslie (Mark) O'Connell, Perrysburg, Ohio, Lyndsey (Talis) Daiga, Norwalk, Ohio, and by her much-adored grandchildren Abbie, Lexie, Henry, Oliver, Fletche,r and Jasper, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Lucille Berry, and her brother, Tom.

Friends and family may gather at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio, from 5:00 p.m. - 8 :00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk, Ohio, on Friday, August 3. 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Francis Mariadas will officiate. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
