Jack Parkhurst

It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Parkhurst announces his passing on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the age of 79 after a short battle with cancer.

Jack was born on July 9, 1939. He graduated from Townsend High School and was a lifelong farmer and an independent owner operator truck driver for 40 years. Jack was instrumental in founding the Townsend Township Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief for many years. He was also a charter member of Townsend Ruritan. He was a member of Sandusky County Restores of Antique Power, an avid Oliver collector, and a fan of the real Ohio sports teams; Cleveland Indians, Browns, Cavs, and of course Ohio State.

Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Joyce (Dowdle) and his children Jacque Greene (Karl) Vickery, Joseph Parkhurst (Kelly) Vickery, and Jennifer Parkhurst-Skala (George) Stockton Springs, Maine. Jack will also be remembered by his sister Carol Petenzi New Market, Alabama and June Riedy (Sonny) Vickery. As well as grandchildren, Morgan Richter (Chris), John Parkhurst (Diana), Zac Greene (Kelle Zachariewicz), Emily Greene (Andrew Kidd), and George Skala (Stockton Springs, ME). His great-grandchildren Damian and Nickolas Richter and Garrett Kidd as well as step grandchildren Chad (Janine) Greene,Stephanie (Justus) Abbott, Amanda (Tim) Hatfield, Ryan (Kenzie) Zesing, and step great-grandchildren Trent, Isabella, Ivy, Abbee, Corrine, Lili, Abal, and Zane as well as many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Catherine (Meggitt) and Clifford Parkhurst, brother Richard (Dick) Parkhurst, and great-granddaughter Hanna Richter.

A celebration of life will be held at Joe & Kelly Parkhurst's residence on October 21st from 2-5 P.M., 706 N.C.R. 268 Clyde, Ohio. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Jack Parkhurst to S.C.R.A.P. Tractor Pulls 5175 CR 65 Gibsonburg, OH 43431.
