Melvin Wilson

Melvin Wilson, 58, Sandusky, passed away from his earthly home and entered his heavenly home, Thursday, December 12, 2018, after a lengthy illness, at his residence.

He was born in Sandusky Providence Hospital in 1960 on a wonderful summer morning. He was the oldest son of the late Hershel Wilson, and Lillie Mae Wilson of Coldwater and Senatobia, MS. respectively.

In 1981, he married the love of his life, Angela Thomas, and raised two sons, Bryant Thomas and Anthony Wilson. After graduating from Sandusky High School in 1980, he began employment with Good Samaritan Hospital working in food service. When the opportunity became available, Melvin began working at PPG (Glidden) as a paint maker. There he developed several close relationships while on the job. His commitment and strong work ethic proved beneficial to his employer and contributed to his nearly 33 years of employment.

Melvin was a devoted member of the East Parish Street Church of Christ in Sandusky, where he grew to understand and love the Bible. He relished in great gospel singing and attended gospel meetings across Ohio. Prior to his illness, he was very active in various ministries in the service of the Lord. He would spend many hours talking about the Bible with his mother and siblings. He enjoyed spending quality time with his immediate and extended family on weekend trips.

Melvin loved to bowl and with Elijah as his partner occasionally would beat-down partners Michael and Don. He was an avid shopper and thoroughly enjoyed the board game Monopoly. He often played Monopoly with his family, and on his mobile phone in his spare time. Melvin had a very close relationship with his brother Michael, affectionately called "Charlie," cousins, Elijah "Big E" Wooten and Robert "DC" Cox. They referred to themselves as the "The Gents" and remained close until his death.

Melvin leaves not to mourn, but to celebrate the joys of his life, his loving wife, Angela Thomas Wilson; sons, Bryant Thomas and Anthony J Wilson (Erica Pennix).; his mother, Lillie Mae Wilson; brothers, Michael (Arnetta), Laurel, MD; Vincent (Rayleen), Charleston, SC; and sister, Devetea Wilson, Columbus, OH; he leaves ten loving grandchildren, whom he adored; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Wilson in 2004 and his brother, Darryl Wilson in 2013.

Friends may call on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in East Parish St. Church of Christ, 1219 E. Parish St., Sandusky. Brother Jeffrey Sherman will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
