Antonia Fischer

Antonia Fischer, 79, residing in Castalia, passed away Sunday evening, March 10, 2019 with all her family members by her side, at Bellevue Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Antonia was born on January 17, 1940 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to the late Jose H. and Teresa E. (Easin) Avila.

Antonia retired from Union Chain (Tsubaki) after 30 years of service. She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Antonia was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family and friends.

Antonia is survived by her husband of 59 years, John "Jack" A. Fischer whom she married on December 24, 1959. She is also survived by her four sons, William (Marian), Dean (Laurie), Jeff and Jason Fischer; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ernestine (Larry) Kovasckitz and Sophie (Ron) Spataro; brother, Jessie (Josephine) Avila and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Antonia is preceded in death by her sister, Mary (Raul) Veliz and niece, Rosemary.

Friends may call on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 12:00 pm. Deacon Phil Dinovo will officiate. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia.
