Annie P. Odums

Annie P. Odums, 69, Sandusky, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Silas, Alabama on September 20, 1949. Annie was the daughter of the late Norman and Louise (Holcombe) Johnson.

She attended Sandusky High School where she graduated in 1968.

She was employed as a secretary to the former Michigan Secretary of State, Richard Austin in Detroit, Michigan. In addition, Mrs. Odums was employed as a secretary with Ford Motor Company Incorporated. She was also part of the administrative staff with Sandusky City Schools where she retired after 15+ years.

After retirement, Mrs. Odums enjoyed hobbies such as painting, photography and reading. Also, she spent time with grandchildren, as well as viewing football and basketball games. She also liked daytime soap operas. Mrs. Odums was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she attended each week until she became ill.

Annie is survived by her husband Charles whom she was married to for 39 years, her mother, Mrs. Louise Johnson, two children; Janel (Lynn) Johnson of Leesburg, Georgia and Robert (Nanje) Odums of Grayson, Georgia. Mrs. Odums has 3 stepdaughters, Sophia (Harmon) Williams, and Candenisa (Fred) Thomas of both of Albany, Georgia and Tashica Carr of Atlanta, Georgia, Siblings, Marva (James) Jackson, and Norman (Reverend Marietta) Johnson both of Sandusky, Eula (Lowell) Phillips, Stone Mountain, Georgia, numerous grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father and her son, Charles Odums II.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 3 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St. Sandusky. Rev. Clayton Howard will officiate.

Those wishing to contribute to her memory may do so in honor of the Charles Odums II scholarship fund through Sandusky High School.
