Peter H. Hanley

Peter H. Hanley, Huron, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family May 11, 2019.

Pete was born in Youngstown, OH, on Oct. 21, 1935 to the late Elmore and Cleo (Husted) Hanley.

He graduated Howland High School in 1953. Pete served in the U.S. Army in Heidelberg, Germany, 1959 to 1961. On July 9, 1960, he married Suzanne Hersch. He graduated from Case Institute in 1963, with a B.S. in Management Science.

He bought Russell Trucking Line in 1975, and founded South Shore Transportation in 1982. He enjoyed golfing at Plum Brook Country Club, cooking/eating family meals and supporting education. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious smile and laugh.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Suzanne Hanley; son, Cole (Kim) Hanley of Sandusky; daughter, Cindy (Craig) Wysocki of Huron; grandchildren, Zach Hanley, Drew Hanley, Luke Hanley, Taylor Wysocki, Blake Wysocki and Reilly Wysocki.

The family invites all who wish to celebrate Pete's life on Thursday, May 16, at Plum Brook Country Club from 5 - 8 pm. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, Pete would prefer donations to Sandusky Library Foundation, 114 W. Adams St., Sandusky, OH 44870 or BGSU Firelands Scholarship Program, One University Dr., Huron, OH 44839.
