Thomas James Garvin

Thomas James Garvin, 93, residing in Burlington, KY and formerly of Sandusky passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospice following an extended illness.

Thomas was born on May 6, 1926 to the late Matthew D. and Fayne S. (Colvin) Garvin.

Thomas graduated from Townsend High School in Vickery, OH and then joined the United States Navy, serving during WWII Pacific Theater. Thomas was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion and a member of the UAW. He was a founding member of Block Watch in his neighborhood area group for 35 years. In his later years, he was involved in NKY Hidden Rocks.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Mona (William Jr.) Woodruff; son, Todd Garvin; grandchildren, Cory (Amy) Woodruff, Jesiah (fiancée, Caitlin Smith) and Alexandra "Alex" (fiancé, Brandon Todd) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary L. (Jankowiak) Garvin in 2017 and sisters, Jean Dubbert, Marian Mowrey and Joan Killan.

Friends may call on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Deb Lusher will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
