William H. Laser

William H. Laser, 78, of Monroeville, passed away after an illness on Monday morning, July 1, 2019 in Admiral's Pointe Nursing Home, Huron, with his family by his side.

He was born on October 20, 1940 in Port Clinton, OH to the late Harold and Pearl Laser. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, where he was a hi-lo driver. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Cold War, Bill served as a coxswain on the U.S.S. Randolph, and was honored for his performance during the critical period of the "Cuban Quarantine Operations."

Bill was an All-Ohio football player in his high school days. He was a member of the Huron Eagles, Sandusky American Legion, V.F.W., and AMVETS. He loved to play euchre, visit casinos, play in recreational softball leagues, and was an avid golfer. However, he most loved his grandchildren. He took great joy and pride in their many accomplishments.

Bill is survived by his wife, Lois; children, William (Christine) Laser, D'Ann (Doug) Franck, and Michael (Brenda) Laser; special friends, Mike and Mary Wanagat; grandchildren, Evan Laser, Logan Laser, Ethan Laser, Lauren Laser, Danielle (Ben) Franck, Dana (Derek) Franck, Miah Laser, Micky Laser, Bode Laser, Anna (Gerrit) Kemps, Katie (Bear) Dziak, and Beth (Jon) Ebner; great-grandchildren, Jonas Kemps, Lyric Kemps, Nora Dziak, and Piper Dziak; and sisters, Peggy Lucas and his twin, Barbara Gresh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Robert (Ruth), Laser, Viola (Bob) Randall, Pat (Chuck) Netherland, and Betty Laser, and Richard Laser.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mast and the staffs at Stein Hospice and Admiral's Pointe for their wonderful care. Also, Bingo Annie says, "Thanks."

Friends may call on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 9 a.m. until funeral services begin at 11 a.m. in St. John's U.C.C., 2712 W. Mason Rd., Milan. Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Perkins Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the cemetery service at the V.F.W., 604 W. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the church or to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
