Clifford M. "Cliff" Claus

Clifford M. "Cliff" Claus, 76, of Monroeville passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

He was born January 3, 1943 in Camp Adiberry, Indiana and was a lifelong resident of Monroeville.

Cliff was a 1961 graduate of Monroeville High School. He was employed and self-employed for several years as a ceramic tile setter. Cliff was a 55-year member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local 36 Cleveland, Ohio. He was a 50-year member of the Norwalk Eagles Aerie 711 and was a son of a veteran member at the Norwalk VFW for many years.

In his early years he farmed and was an avid bowler. He enjoyed the Cleveland Browns, Cavs, and Indians.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Yvonne (Tanner) Claus; five children, William "Bill" Claus and Robert "Bobby" Claus both of Norwalk, Melissa "Missi" (Mike) Dierker of Pemberville, Ohio, Tammi Claus, and Michelle (Don) Lyons of Norwalk; fourteen grandchildren, Mandy, Tabatha, Katie, Brittany, Ashley, Randee, Skylar, Megan, Kirsten, Kraig, Carl, Haley, Hannah, and Addison; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Brian Claus of Monroeville; his mother-in-law, Annabelle Tanner of Norwalk; three nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Joyce (Kellogg) Claus; and his father-in-law, Guy Tanner.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of Norwalk Eagles memorial service at 11:45 AM on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM in the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Amy C. Little of Trinity Lutheran Church, Monroeville will officiate. Private burial services will be held at a later date in Hester Cemetery.
