Donald Harry Burdue

Donald Harry Burdue, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday morning, September 9, 2019 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Donald was born on January 4, 1927 in Norwalk, OH to the late Frank and Dorothy (Burgess) Burdue.

Donald graduated from Norwalk High School in 1945. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII in the Philippines. He retired from General Motors in 1978 after 30 years of service. Donald was a member of the VFW in Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a member of the Bells & Bows Square Dancing Club, and biking, swimming, fishing and watching baseball, especially the Cleveland Indians.

Donald is survived by his children, Larry (Cathy) Burdue of Norwalk, Patty (Roger) Morrow of Fitchville, Debbie (Howard) Holliday of Sandusky and Charles Bolyard of Henderson, NV; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bob Burdue of KY and Wayne Burdue of IA and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his wife, Johanna Margaret (Hill) Burdue in 2017; sons, Donald Gene and Norman Robert Bolyard; grandson, Russell Clayton Farrar Jr; daughter-in-law, Charlene Bolyard; sister, Harriet Siss and brother, Bill Burdue.

Friends may call on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Bobby Langdon will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
