Kenneth L. Schirg Sr.

Kenneth L. Schirg Sr., 66, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, December 1, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ken was born on May 27, 1953 in Sandusky, OH to the late Clifford and Kathleen (Prangle) Schirg Sr.

Ken was a 1971 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was employed at his family business, Cliff's Carry Out, eventually becoming co-owner with his brother, Joe, until he retired in 2018. He cherished the many friendships he had made over the years with the employees and customers. Ken continued his father's legacy by sponsoring and supporting many local youth baseball and softball teams. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons participate in their sporting events. He also coached many of his sons' baseball, football and basketball teams. He was a loyal and avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. Ken loved to travel, especially taking family trips to Walt Disney World. He was a life long member of the Elks Lodge 285.

Ken is survived by wife of 42 years, Nanette (Salinski) Schirg. He is also survived by his sons, Kenneth (Jill) Schirg Jr. of Ostrander, OH and Jonathan (Desiree) Schirg of Blacklick, OH; grandsons, Billy, Benjamin, Aiven, and one on the way; brothers, Joe (Mary) Schirg of Sandusky, Robert (Tami) Prangle of League City, TX, Donn Schirg of Sandusky and Glen (Peggy) Schirg of St. Charles, MO; sister, Kathy (Steve) Miller of Columbus; sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Ted Wikel of Sandusky, Zee Schirg of Westerville, and Keith Salinski of Sandusky and several loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to parents, Ken is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Charles and Rose Salinski; brother, Barry Schirg; niece, Jennifer Schirg Mills, and nephew, Michael Keller.

Friends may call on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 12:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 3:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Deacon Bill Burch will officiate.
