Clyde "Coach" Green

Clyde "Coach" Green, 75, Sandusky, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on January 4, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Clyde was born on June 26,1944 in Sandusky, OH to the late Estella (Woods) Johnson and Ulysses Green, Sr.

Upon graduation from Sandusky High School in 1963, Clyde enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving for six years before being honorably discharged.

He then worked for 36 years at General Motors before retiring in 2006. After retirement, he served the community as a coordinator for Meals on Wheels in Erie County for five years. Clyde had a passion for Sandusky athletics, impacting many of the area's youth as a baseball and softball coach for more than 30 years, and was ever-present at Blue Streak sporting events.

Clyde leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janice (Palmer) Green; son, Damon Green, Sr., Sandusky; daughters, Erinn Green, Sandusky and Erika Green (Marion Boyce, Jr.), Charlotte, NC; grandsons, Damon Green, Jr., and Daylen Green, both of Sandusky, and Marion Boyce III, Charlotte, NC; granddaughters, Treasure Green and Emeri Green-McCoy, both of Sandusky; brothers, Ulysses Green, Jr. Sandusky, Lee (Elva) Johnson, Memphis, TN, Lamar (Betty) Johnson, Sandusky and Julian (Lisa) Johnson, Sr. of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Carolyn Campbell, Sandusky, Claudette (Freddie) White of Springfield, MA and Renee Johnson, Sandusky; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and long-time friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, James Green and sisters, Ethel Roldan and Harriet Russell.

Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Friday, January 10, 2020 in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce Street, Sandusky, A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday at 12 P.M. Noon in the church. Pastor Darrell Gant will give the eulogy. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
