John T. Wilson III

John T. Wilson III, 70, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 8, 2020 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness.

John was born on March 15, 1949 in Sandusky, OH to the late John T. and Eleanor (Ritchie) Wilson Jr.

John graduated from Perkins High School in 1967, received his bachelor's degree in engineering from the General Motors Institute, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and eventually obtained his master's degree later in life. He retired from KBI in 2016 after 44 years of service as an engineer. John was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a church deacon, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served as church treasurer and several boards over the years. He enjoyed golfing, being a Boy Scout advisor, history and reading. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, Patricia (DeHenning) Wilson, whom he married on September 14, 1973. He is also survived by his two sons: Wesley (Julie) Wilson of Clarks Summit, PA and Blair (Heather) Wilson of Sandusky; seven grandchildren: Nate, Alyssa, Cassia, Scott, Ella, Mason and Sienna; sisters: Barbara (Bill) Griffith of Peachtree City, GA and Lois (Anton) Zellman of Canton, GA; brothers: Robert (Janis) of Peachtree City, GA, Donald (Shirleen) of New Boston, MI, Rich (Linda) of Sandusky, and Larry (Judy) of El Dorado Hills, CA and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Friends may call on Friday, February 14, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor David Hixson will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
