Juanita "JJ" Jones Cote

Juanita “JJ” Jones Cote died on Friday Dec. 2, just before midnight, leaving this world for a better one.

She was born Ella Juanita Davidson on Dec. 7, 1934 in Manchester, Kentucky. JJ graduated from Manchester High, married Haze Jones and moved to Sandusky, Ohio with their son Casey (Cathy) Jones and having then a daughter Tamara Jones. Grandchildren from this union are Chad (Angela) Jones of Huron, Desiraye (Steven) Alvarado of Florida and Dustin Heineman of Put-in-Bay.

She then went on to start a second family, with husband Yvan Cote and his children daughter Dana (Bill) Bain and son Max (Sunny) Cote, both of Virginia. Grandchildren from this union are Garrett and Gabrielle Bain and Georgia, Ella, Hudson and newest baby, Annelise Cote.

Raising two families of children and grandchildren gave her the most joy. She loved crafting and also was a talented seamstress making everything from doll clothes to curtains. A giving person of her time, talent and resources, she helped everyone in her life in one or all of these ways. Her love was unconditional and pure. She was a caring sister (being one of the oldest), she gave wholeheartedly the little things growing up to make their young lives the best she could. She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ and the Phi Theta Club.

She is survived by all of the above mentioned and her siblings, Sibyl (Carol) Crum of Sandusky, Ruby  (Marvin) Sycle of Georgia, Gail (Ernie) Davis of Kentucky, Nancy (Jack) Behme of North Carolina, Carol (James) England, Chester (Irene) Davidson and Brenda Jakubec all of Kentucky. She also has numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and in-laws from both of these marriages that she would want to acknowledge as well.

She was preceded in death by her father Pearl Davidson and mother Delora (Lo) Davidson (Gilbert), infant brother Robert, sister Janie Justice and brothers Felix (FG) and James Roger Davidson, all of Kentucky, as well as her first husband Haze Jones.

She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, grandmother and friend to all who had the privilege of being a part of her life here. Working at New Departure for 38 years, she made many lifelong friends.  She will be sorely missed, but never forgotten as she leaves a legacy of love, good deeds and treasured memories with each and every one of us.

Visitation will be Tuesday Dec. 6 from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Ransom Funeral Home 610 S. Washington St.,  Castalia.
