Lawrence "Larry" William Gill

Lawrence "Larry" William Gill, 67, of Berlin Heights, passed away Saturday morning, April 18, 2020 after a brief battle with illness.

He was born March 10, 1953 in Elyria. L

arry spent his adolescent years on a farm in Berlin Heights where he quickly developed an ability to fix nearly anything. He was a graduate of Firelands High School in the class of 1971.

In October of 1975, a year after being introduced to the nurse taking care of his mother at Fisher-Titus Hospital in Norwalk, Larry married Elaine, the love of his life and his "Fairy Princess." He built a life to provide for his wife and his children and worked tirelessly to accomplish that.

He was an avid Lake Erie fisherman with his family, and there were few things he enjoyed more than a hearty meal of walleye or yellow perch. He was an expert with computers and metal machining, and spent countless hours working to improve his life and the life of those around him. He let no road block stand in his way and was eternally able to adapt and overcome.

He will always be remembered for his embracing hugs, his sought-after advice, and the endearing smile he would wear whenever he was about to say something ornery. His unfailing work ethic was an inspiration to both of his sons who will carry on his legacy in their lives, and the lives of his grandchildren. Despite his commitment to the task at hand he also had an endearing softness that always left you feeling comforted.

His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring, eternal wife, Elaine Marie Gill (Schneider), of Berlin Heights; his sons, Joseph Edwin Gill (Kim), of Zurich, Switzerland, and James Michael Gill (Melissa), of Medina, Ohio; his two grandchildren, Caleb Cullen and Connor Cullen, of Medina, Ohio; and his two loving sisters, Linda Clark (Brian), of Southgate, Michigan, and Norene Gill, of Altamonte Springs, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irene and Joseph Gill; and his brother, Robert Gill.

The family wishes to thank Firelands Regional Medical Center for their tireless, thoughtful, and valiant service to help Larry in the fight of his life. Due to current events, a memorial service for Larry will be scheduled for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a tribute donation to the Firelands Guardian Angel Program (for the direct benefit of the 4 West Isolation ICU Nursing Staff) in Larry's name c/o 1111 Hayes Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
